Silver halide crystals are prepared by combining an organic solution containing a silver halide complex of the formula <IMAGE> in which E is hydrogen, an alkali metal or ammonium and Z is a divalent metal from main group 2 or subgroup 8 of the periodic table, X<1>, X<2> and X<3>, independently of one another, are halogen or pseudohalogen, and the indices p, q, n, n1, n2 and n3 satisfy the conditions 1 </= m </= 3, 2 </= n </= 5, in which n = n1 + n2 + n3, 0 </= p </= 4 and 0 </= q </= 2 with a medium in which the silver halide complex is unstable. After removing the soluble compounds, followed by physical and/or chemical digestion, the silver halide can be dispersed in a binder. The silver halide emulsions thus obtained are suitable for the production of photographic materials. <IMAGE>

Silberhalogenidkristalle werden durch Zusammengeben einer organischen Lösung, die einen Silberhalogenidkomplex der Formel EpQ2[Agm×n1<1>×n2<2>×n3<3>] enthält, worin E Wasserstoff, ein Alkalimetall oder Ammonium und Z ein zweiwertiges Metall der 2. Hauptgruppe oder der 8. Nebengruppe des Periodensystems bedeutet, X¹, X² und X³ unabhängig voneinander Halogen oder Pseudohalogen sind, und die Indizes p, q, m, n1, n2 und n3 die Bedingungen 1 <= m <= 3, 2 <= n <= 5, wobei n = n1 + n2 + n3, 0 <= p <= 4 und 0 <= q <= 2 erfüllen, mit einem Medium, worin der Silberhalogenidkomplex nicht stabil ist, hergestellt. Nach Entfernung der löslichen Verbindungen, und anschliessender physikalischer und/oder chemischer Reifung kann das Silberhalogenid in einem Bindemittel dispergiert werden Die so erhaltenen Silberhalogenidemulsionen eignen sich gut zur Herstellung photographischer Materialien.
