A training firing device for cannon, guns or such like, having a sub-calibre barrel (4) which is inserted into the barrel (1) and retained therein by means of centering discs (3, 3', 3") or similar devices, with a cartridge chamber formed on its rear end for the firing of sub-calibre ammunition (5), characterised by the use of a full-calibre cartridge end housing case impact base (2), known from cannon ammunition, with combustible cartridge case, for receiving and feeding the sub-calibre ammunition (5) into the cartridge chamber of the sub-calibre barrel (4), with the impact base of the cartridge end housing case (2) being provided internally with a central, peg-shaped extension (22) having at its front end a slot which is matched to the shape of the base of the cartridge case of the sub-calibre ammunition and which is open on one side and extends in a cross sectional plane perpendicular to the axis of the barrel.
