[origin: EP0056937A2] This apparatus is suitable for exchanging supply reels (2, 2', 2'') for stranding machines (1) with reel carriers (5) arranged in succession in a longitudinal direction of the machine and is equipped with a magazine (7) which has bearing elements (13, 13', 13''; 23, 24; 26, 27) arranged above the stranding machine (1). For inserting the supply reels (2) into the stranding machine (1) and extracting them from it, arranged vertically above each reel carrier (5) of the stranding rotor (3) and above the bearing elements (13, etc) is a fixed lifting device (9) with a receiving means (10) suitable for grasping the supply reels (2). The bearing elements (13, etc.) can both be introduced into the region determined essentially by the cross-section of a supply reel (2) and extending vertically above the reel carrier (5), to load the magazine (7) with supply reels (2) or unload them from it, and be removed out of this region, to load the reel carriers (5) in the stranding rotor (3) or unload them from it.
