[origin: EP0058361A2] The invention relates to an apparatus for cutting peeled tubers, such as potatoes, and leaf vegetables, in particular cabbages. At least one fixed knife blade is arranged in a vertical pipe, each potato being pressed onto this knife blade by a vertical ram. In order to centre the potato, a resilient membrane (12) is fixed close to and above the knife blade(s) (9), and is slit in such a way that it forms three or more freely projecting tongues (13) whose free ends terminate approximately at the central point of the membrane. The blades (9) cutting the axis of the pipe are inclined downwards towards the centre point of the pipe. <IMAGE>
