A process for the continuous and uniform fast dyeing of wool fibers with reactive dyes containing sulfo groups, in the presence of an alkali metal acetate and in an aqueous dye bath according to a pad steaming method without applying an intermediate drying, characterized in that for the padding operation of the wool fiber material a dyebath is used containing sodium acetate in the range of from 20 to 50 g per liter of liquor and optionally an anti-reducing agent in addition to the dissolved dyestuffs, and after removing of excess liquor, said moist pad dyeing is subjected to a treatment with saturated steam at a temperature in the range of from 102 to 115 degrees C for to 13 minutes, to fix the dyestuffs.
