Abstract (en)
A portable power saw has a reciprocatory drive shaft connected to a reciprocatory drive mechanism within a body 1. Guide rollers 27 mounted in front of and behind a blade 6 on the drive shaft 4 guide the saw along a workpiece. The rollers 27 are retractable such that the drive shaft 4, at the extremity of its stroke, may project beyond any other part of the saw. Rollers 51 which are preferably adjustable in position support the saw over the ground. A suction point 41 is provided for extracting debris. The saw is particularly advantageous for use in cutting a groove in brick wells for the insertion of a strip material, such as a damp proof membrane.
