Abstract (en)
An electrical socket type contact assembly for use in an electrical connector said electrical contact assembly comprising: an inner sleeve (10) stamped in form from a single sheet of metal, said sleeve having a front mating portion (11) and the rear wire receiving portion (12); an intermediate sleeve (20) telescopically and mounted over said inner sleeve (10); and an outer sleeve (30) telescopically mounted on the front portion (21) of said intermediate sleeve (20), said outer sleeve (30) having an enlarged portion (35) that includes a forwardly facing shoulder (36) and a rearwardly facing shoulder (37), said inner sleeve characterized by: a plurality of axially extending fingers (15) in the front mating portion of the sleeve (10), said fingers (15) resiliently deflectable and radial direction and a first layer of gold (16) only on at least a portion of the inner surface of said fingers (15).
