Apparatus for stacking flat articles (17), such as bags, tubular sections or the like, preferably of limp and/or lightweight material, which tends to wrinkle, comprising a double belt conveyor (6, 7) which consists of revolving parallel individual belts, which are spaced apart and between which air-blowing nozzles (11, 12) are disposed adjacent to the leading reversing pulleys (9, 10), which nozzles are directed in the direction of travel and serve to discharge the articles (17), also comprising a stacking table or stacking belt conveyor (13), which is disposed below the discharge end of the double belt conveyor (6, 7) and a forward movable stop (14), which defines the leading end of the stack (16) and is engageable by the articles (17) discharged in succession, characterized in that air-sucking nozzles (18) are provided, which rotate about the axis of the lower reversing pulleys (10) and suck the trailing ends of the articles (17) before they leave the double belt conveyor (6, 7) and which deliver said articles after the pivotal movement below the region of the air-blowing nozzles (11, 12).
