[origin: US4466576A] The metering drum for the weft thread of a weaving machine has a circumferential surface of rubber which is clamped between two supporting rings. The supporting rings may be movable axially or rotatably relative to each other so as to expand or constrict, respectively, the rubber surface in order to change the length of the thread windings. The rubber surface may also be expanded by means of a pressure medium within a chamber between two fixed supporting rings.

Die Zumesstrommel (20) für den Schussfaden (16) einer Webmaschine enthält einen aus Gummi bestehenden Umfangsteil (7), welcher zwischen zwei Stützringen (4, 6) eingespannt ist. Der Stützring (6) lässt sich während des Betriebes durch die Schraube (14) in Achsrichtung der Antriebswelle (1) verstellen, so dass der elastische Umfangsteil (7) gestaucht und nach aussen in die Stauchposition (7a) überführt werden kann. Dadurch wird der Durchmesser (d) der Fadenrille (19) grösser, so dass pro Arbeitsspiel der Webmaschine mehr Faden (16) von der Vorratsspule (17) bei gleicher Drehzahl der Antriebswelle (1) abgezogen wird. Auf diese Weise lässt sich eine optimale, der Webbreite entsprechende Fadenlänge einstellen.
