Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8203096A1] The knitting machine comprising at least one bed (1) is provided with parallel needles (2), movable axially and controlled by a cam (5). Sinkers (7) arranged between the needles are controlled by a cam (15) and bear on the bed (1) and comprise each a sinker blade (15). The sinkers (7) are transversally and longitudinally movable and are controlled so as to move, at the location of the stitch after sinking, in the opposite direction to the lowering of the cooperating needles and transversally outwardly, and after casting off, in the opposite direction to the outlet motion of the needle and transversally inwardly. To increase the working speed of the knitting machine and to obtain a fine spacing of the needles, the rods (12) of the sinkers (7) are guided in the needle bed (1) and are provided with guiding ribs for the neighbouring needle rods (3). A cam (16) is arranged close to the bed (1) which imparts to the sinkers (7) the outlet transverse motion.
