Washing device for road traffic signs, adapted for being attached to a vehicle, particularly for motorway, signs, comprising : (a) a first arm (1) pivoted on the vehicle and pivotable relative to the vehicle by a fluid operated actuating device (56), (b) a second arm (12) pivoted on the first arm (1) and pivotable relative to the first arm (1) by a fluid-operated actuacting device (7, 8), (c) a washing head attached to the free end of the second arm (12) and comprising a carrier (17) and shaft (18) mounted therein, which carries a washing brush arrangement and is arranged to be driven by a driving motor (20) having veriable speed of rotation, and a spray device associated with the washing brush device and adapted to be connected to a reservoir for cleaning liquid, characterized in that (d) the second arm (12) with the carrier (17) is detachably mounted on a support (3), which is pivoted on the first arm (1), the actuating device (7, 8) engaging this support (3), (e) the shaft (18) mounted in the carrier (17) of the washing brush arrangement carries a plurality spaced washing brushes (19), such that an elongated brush structure results, (f) the carrier (17) is pivoted on the second arm (12) through a pivotal pin (34), and (g) means are provided, which ensure a predetermined alignment of the washing brush arrangement under the action of gravity, in each position of the arms (1, 12).
