[origin: US4404025A] Brittle Ni/Ti memory alloys containing copper can be transformed, from the cast condition, into semifinished product which is suitable for further processing, by a process in which a cast bar is homogenized, a little below the solidus line, and is then isothermally extruded in the temperature range from 700 DEG to 850 DEG C.

Spröde, kupferhaltige Ni/Ti-Gedächtnislegierungen können vom Gusszustand dadurch in für die Weiterverarbeitung geeignetes Halbzeug übergeführt werden, indem ein Gussbarren knapp unterhalb der Soliduslinie homogenisiert und anschliessend im Temperaturbereich von 700 bis 850°C isotherm stranggepresst wird.
