Abstract (en)
Low-torque crepe yarn of continuous thermoplastic filaments, comprises a sheath component false-twisted about core component, as alternating spiral windings of opposite hand. Filaments of the sheath components are adhered to those of the core. Specifically, the extensibility of sheath filaments is 60% min., those of the core having at least 30% less extensibility and sheath and core filaments have different softening temps., and are adhered together by heating during false-twisting by friction discs at DY ratios between 1.30 and 1.40. Pref. the filaments are polyamide or polyester, undrawn, partially drawn or fully drawn. Alternating opposite spiral turns of sheath gives torque balance.
