[origin: WO8200969A1] A surgical stapling instrument of the type having a pair of separable body parts (30, 31) respectively providing handle halves (33) and staple cartridge anvil supporting jaws (34, 36) with a locking lever (32) for clamping the body halves together prior to staple ejection. The body halves are of plastics material and are strengthened by an embedded steel rib extending through part of the handle portion and the entire cartridge or anvil supporting portion. The clamping lever (32) is locked in its closed position by a positive locking arrangement (65) at the rear of one of the body halves (31).

Instrument d'agrafage chirurgical du type ayant une paire de pieces separables (30, 31) d, un corps formant respectivement des moities de poignee (33) et des machoires de support de tasseau d'une cartouche d'agrafes (34, 36) avec un levier de verrouillage (32) pour verrouiller ensemble les moities du corps avant l'ejection de l'agrafe. Les moities du corps sont faites avec un materiau plastique et sont durcies par une nervure en acier noye dans la masse s'etendant au travers d'une partie de la poignee et sur toute la partie de support de tasseau ou cartouche. Le levier de verrouillage (32) est verrouille dans sa position fermee par un dispositif de verrouillage positif (65) a l'arriere de l'une des moities (31) du corps.
