Bottle closure (10) having a hollow cylindrical support body (12) in which a compression spring (38) is lodged that bears on a sheet gasket, further having two double-armed tong-like legs (18) articulated to the support body, each of which legs comprises near its lower end (22) inwardly directed lugs (26), noses or the like which are compressed by a spring (28) for receiving a bottle neck bead (W), characterized in that for limiting the spreading range of the tong-like legs (18), there is at least one limiting element attacking the outside thereof, viz. either (Fig. 1) a press-on cap (30) that extends with a radial gap over the upper ends (20) of the tong-like legs, the press-on cap (30) being provided with a cylindrical shaft (34) arranged between the tong-like legs (18), or a limiting spring (42) that engages the outer lower portions thereof.
