[origin: US4461658A] A method of sequentially annealing and then hardening long metal components (1,2,3,4) made of fine or special steel with an austenitic structure, said method including at least one annealing operation by supplying heat from the outside in a reducing or neutral atmosphere and one quenching operation by contact with a flow of cooling fluid and an apparatus for putting said method into practice. The flow rate and the temperature of the cooling fluid are adjusted so that the components undergo no transformation of their austenitic structure during hardening. Application to annealing and hardening armoured electric components with conductor cores, inorganic insulant coatings and outer sheaths made of austenitic steel.

Procédé de recuit et de trempe au défilé pour éléments métalliques allongés en aciers fins ou spéciaux à structure austénitique, comprenant au moins une opération de recuit par apport externe de chaleur sous atmosphère réductrice ou neutre, et une opération de trempe par contact avec une circulation d'un fluide de refroidissement, et dispositif de mise en oeuvre. On règle le débit et la température du fluide de refroidissement de façon que les éléments ne subissent aucune transformation de leur structure austénitique au cours de la trempe. Application au recuit et à la trempe d'éléments électriques blindés (1, 2, 3, 4) à âme conductrice, enrobage à isolant minéral et gaine extérieure en acier austénitique.
