Abstract (en)

An improved wiring loom table which comprises three superposed layers (11,9,5-7) of which the upper (11) is a resilient mesh, an intermediate layer (9) is a steel wire mesh and of which a lower layer (5-7) is adapted to resiliently hold the lower heads of shouldered pins (13) which are inserted into the loom table from above to a depth determined by the intermediate layer. A wiring harness is made by, for each wire (20), injecting the leading part into the upper mesh layer so that it is temporarily anchored, winding the wire around a start pin (13a) so as to provide a temporary but more secure anchorage, and laying the wire along a path defined by pairs of pins, preferably at a height defined by collars (18) disposed on selected pins. The end of each wire may be wound around a respective final pin (13d). At the end of the laying of the multiplicity of wires for a harness, parts of the harness may be bundled together by means of a suitable tape applying tool. Thereafter the upper layer may be moved so as to increase the separation between it and the intermediate layer to release the harness from the table, which may be inverted so as to cause the harness to fall on a conveyor disposed underneath the loom. At the end of the production of a multiplicity of similar harnesses the upper and intermediate layers may be moved to increase the separation of the intermediate and lower layers, so as to remove the pins from the table. This action likewise may be preceded by an inversion of the table so that the pins fall onto the conveyor.
