A solid fuel boiler, more especially for wood, charcoal and/or coal, of the type comprising a combustion chamber (11), a smoke outlet pipe (12) and a heat exchanger (16) in thermal contact with said combustion chamber and in which a heat carrying fluid such as water may flow for heating, characterized in that said combustion chamber is defined essentially by a composite wall (19) comprising a blanket of refractory bricks (20) simply stacked on each other, consolidated by a holding system (21) comprising more especially an external metal casing (21), preferably removable, and a plurality of internal metal plates (21b) disposed vertically at intervals between parts of said blanket.
