Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0063358A2] For drying an object, it is known to heat a gas, for example air, and then to blow it over the object. If this air has a high initial humidity, it must be heated greatly in order to achieve the desired drying effect rapidly. If a high temperature is not permissible, long drying times result. For rapid drying with a medium increase in temperature, according to the invention the gas is dehumidified prior to heating by cooling it down to the dew point and collecting and discharging the condensing liquid. According to Figure 1, a drying device has a first heat exchanger (13) for cooling the sucked-in air to the dew point and a second heat exchanger (12) for heating the thus dehumidified air. The heat exchangers are preferably the evaporator or condenser of a heat pump which has a compressor (15) which is connected to the heat exchangers via reversible piping such that the function of the heat exchangers can be reversed for thawing ice. <IMAGE>
