A process of making a heat-insulating plate comprising at least one plate (1) which is made of heat-insulating material and enclosed by a material (2) which imparts the necessary strength, characterized in that the strength-imparting material (2) is introduced in a pulpy state into a mould, which stands on edge and which is partly filled by said material, and the plate (1) is subsequently immersed, preferably centrally, into the partly filled mould and is held in position so that the plate (1) is enclosed by the material (2) in that the latter is displaced by the plate (1).
