[origin: WO8201792A1] Protection device against overvoltages (1) comprising a casing filled with gas, wherein electrodes (3, 4) located facing each other are maintained at a distance from each other by a tubular insulating body (5) and on the inner wall of which at least one ignition strip (6) extends in the direction from one electrode to the other electrode, the device (1) being surrounded by a concentric sleeve (2). In such device (1), the electric influence of said sleeve (2) is used in order to further improve the characteristics of the useful life of the device. To this effect, the invention provides that the sleeve (2) is set to the earth potential, that the ignition strip (6) is electrically connected to the electrode (3) shaped as a rod or pin and is ended in the low vaporization rear space of the other hollow electrode (4), both electrodes (3, 4) being arranged so that the distance separating the electrodes (3, 4) is approximately equal to the distance comprised between the hollow electrode (4) and the ignition strip (6). The invention applies to protection devices against discharge overvoltages in a gas.

Dispositif de protection contre les surtensions (1) comprenant un boitier rempli de gaz, dans lequel des electrodes (3, 4) situees en regard l'une de l'autre sont maintenues a distance par un corps isolant (5) tubulaire et sur la paroi interieure duquel au moins une bande d'allumage (6) s'etend dans la direction allant d'une electrode a l'autre, le dispositif (1) etant e d'une douille concentrique (2). Dans ce dispositif (1), l'influence electrique de cette douille (2) est utilisee en vue d'ameliorer encore les caracteristiques de longevite du dispositif. A cet effet, l'invention prevoit que la douille (2) est mise au potentiel de la terre, que la bande d'allumage (6) est reliee electriquement a l'electrode (3) en forme de tige ou de broche et se termine dans l'espace arriere a faible vaporisation de l'autre electrode (4) qui est creuse, les deux electrodes (3, 4) etant disposees de telle maniere que la distance separant les electrodes (3, 4) soit approximativement egale a la distance comprise entre l'electrode creuse (4) et la bande d'allumage (6) L'invention s'applique aux dispositifs de protection contre les surtensions a decharge dans un gaz.
