Process for the storage of brown and pit coal dust and mixtures of same in a storage hopper prior to the feed of the pulverized coal or of the mixture, from a fluidized powder material column to a coal dust burner by dosed transfer of the dust or of the mixture in a pneumatic conveying flow, characterized in that the coal dust is discharged by gravitation or mechanical means from the storage hopper and conducted through an air steadying and exhaust zone prior to its fluidization and feed in the pneumatic conveying flow, in order to prevent the ingress of fluidizing air into the storage hopper.
