Blind riveting device having a support (3) resting on the hollow rivet (37) and a jaw part (9) which, by means of automatic clamping jaws (15), grips on the rivet (32) provided with an upset head (41), which jaw part (9) is retractably guided out of its initial position supported on the support (3), with a jaw device (21) and a return device (11) being provided for the jaw part (9), with the clamping jaws (15), in the initial position of the jaw part (9), resting on a stop (6) and at the same time being driven back out of their active position, characterised in that a displacement space (19) of a piston (9) connected to the jaw part (9) is in communication with a space (12) provided on the rear of the clamping jaws (15), with the displacement space (19) and the ejection space (12) being designed in such a way that, when the jaw part (9) is returned, a highly compressed air cushion is formed in the said spaces, which air cushion shoots the rivet shank (33) outwards when the clamping jaws (15) become non-active.
