[origin: US4577613A] A pavement and masonry stone cutter includes an upper tool supported for vertical up and down movements and which is mounted in an approximately C-shaped frame above a support table for the stone material to be cut; a lower tool is disposed below the support table and is associated with the upper tool with the lower tool passing through an opening in the support table so that the upper tool and the lower tool enter into cutting operation at the same time for precise splitting; a support table during splitting is lowered in a controlled manner with respect to the lower tool; the upper and lower tools may be in the form of individual cleaving wedges which are hydraulically operated to move towards and away from one another; the chambers for the hydraulic cylinders are in fluid communication.

Pflaster- und Mauerstein-Spaltvorrichtung mit einem Oberwerkzeug (10), das oberhalb einer Auflage (Tisch 14) für das zu spaltende Steinmaterial in einem etwa C-förmigen Rahmen (12) vertikal auf- und abbewegbar gelagert ist. Diesem Oberwerkzeug (10) ist ein unterhalb der Auflage (Tisch 14) angeordnetes Unterwerkzeug (16) zugeordnet. Das Unterwerkzeug (16) tritt beim Spalten des Steinmaterials durch eine in der Auflage (Tisch 14) vorgesehene Öffnung (Schlitz 18) hindurch, so dass das Oberwerkzeug (10) und Unterwerkzeug (16) zur präzisen Spaltung gleichzeitig in Spaltfunktion treten. Die Auflage (Tisch) wird bei der Spaltphase gegenüber dem Unterwerkzeug (16) kontrolliert abgesenkt. Ober- und/oder Unterwerkzeug (10 bzw. 16) umfassen jeweils mindestens zwei in einem Werkzeughalter hydraulisch abgestützte Einzel-Spaltkeile (34, 36, 38, 40, 42), die in im Werkzeughalter angeordnete Zylinderräume (46, 46', ... 54, 54') relativ zueinander verschieblich gelagert sind. Die Zylinderräume (46, 46', ... 54, 54') sind an der den Spaltkeilen (34-32) abgewandten Seite durch einen Zylinderkopf (58) abgeschlossen. Ferner sind die Zylinderräume (46, 46', ... 54, 54') miteinander fluidverbunden, wobei die Fluidverbindung durch eine an der den Zylinderräumen zugewandten Seite des Zylinderkopfes (58) angeordnete Nut (56) gebildet ist.
