Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0065306A2] 1. Sheet feeding device for a copying machine, comprising a rotatingly driven photosensitive drum, a copy sheet storage cassette (2) for containing a stack (9) of copy sheets, a pair of feed rollers (15, 16) arranged at a distance from the outlet aperture of the sheet storage cassette (2), the pair of feed rollers being intermittently drivable in controlled co-ordination with the coppying cycle to feed a copy sheet advanced from the sheet storage cassette (2) to the photosensitive drum, and a forwarding roller (8) which is arranged over the copy sheet storage cassette (2) and which interacts under pressure with each uppermost copy sheet of the stack (9) of copy sheets for advancing it with its leading edge into the nip between the pair of feed rollers (15, 16) (which at that time are still stationary), the forwarding roller (8) being adapted to be driven intermittently, and timewise in advance of the driving of the pair of feed rollers (15, 16), by a drive mechanism provided with a rotary control disc (1), characterised in that two toothed segments (3, 4) are arranged on the control disc (1) to be mutually stagered at the circumference of the control disc (1), one of the toothed segments (3) interacting with a drive pinion (5) of the forwarding roller (8) and the other toothed segment (4) interacting with a drive pinion of the pair of feed rollers (15, 16) ; and in that the stack (9) of copy sheets contained in the copy sheet storage cassette (2) is pressed from below against the forwarding roller (8) in an adjustable manner in correspondance with the actual height of the stack (9) of copy sheets.
