Encoding support in the shape of a plate, for fitting to parts, which are to be worked individually, of a motor vehicle to be assembled, in particular parts of the body, which encoding support contains optically detectable information on the nature of the working of the individual component, the association with a particular motor vehicle and further manufacturing data, characterised by several cover pieces (16, 17, 18) which are arranged one above the other and are transparent at least above the information and which are individually fixed releasably to the encoding support (10) and are formed from one plastic or different plastics which are resistant to the chemical, electrical and thermal stresses occurring during the working of the individual component, that is to say are resistant to chemicals and solvents, electrically insulating and heat-resistant.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen plattenförmigen Codierungsträger zur Anbringung an für sich zu bearbeitenden Teilen eines zu montierenden Industrieerzeugnisses, insbesondere für Karosserien oder Teile eines Kraftfahrzeuges, wobei der Codierungsträger optisch erkennbare Informationen (Codierung) über die Art der Bearbeitung des Einzelteils, die Zugehörigkeit zu einem bestimmten Erzeugnis und weitere Herstellungsdaten aufweist. Die Erfindung besteht in der Kombination von mehreren auf- bzw. übereinander angeordneten, wenigstens teilweise durchsichtigen Abdeckstücken (16, 17, 18), die an dem Codierungsträger lösbar befestigt sind und nach jedem Arbeitsvorgang einzeln voneinander abgezogen werden können. Durch die Erfindung wird bewirkt, daß nach jedem Arbeitsvorgang (wie Entfettung, Phosphatierung, Elektrophoresebehandlung, Trocknung, Grundierung, Lackierung), selbst wenn dieser unter Verwendung von aggressiven Flüssigkeiten oder bei hohen Temperaturen vorgenommen wird und eine erhebliche Verunreinigung der Oberfläche zur Folge hat, nach Abziehen des jeweils obersten Abdeckstücks die Codierung auf dem Codierungsträger einwandfrei lesbar bleibt.
