Abstract (en)
[origin: US4412154A] An electronic drive system for a discharge lamp is disclosed wherein the switching frequency of the chopper is reduced until the lamp striking voltage has reached about 70% of its rated value. The system includes a chopper transistor, a control for varying the transistors duty cycle and a smoothing inductance, freewheeling diode and smoothing inductor to smooth the chopper output. Current limiting is provided to prevent overcurrent within the chopper transistor, smoothing inductor or lamp.

Dispositif d'alimentation électronique pour lampe à décharge, comportant un régulateur à découpage constitué d'un transistor hacheur (T5) attaqué avec un rapport cyclique variable par l'intermédiaire d'un étage pilote, d'une inductance de lissage (S), d'un diode de roue libre (D5) et d'un condensateur de filtrage (C), caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend des moyens pour abaisser la fréquence de commutation du transistor (T5) pendant la période d'échauffement de la lampe (L), jusqu'à ce que sa tension d'arc (Uc) ait atteint environ 70 % de sa valeur nominale.
