[origin: US4433921A] The watchcase essentially comprises a crystal 1, or other transparent part visible from the outside of the case, assembled to the body 2 or a bezel exclusively by way of a layer 3 of low-temperature solder, in the nature of a silver or tin solder. A layer of barrier coating 5, chromium for example, serves to avoid diffusion of solder in the liquid state to the surface of the crystal. The zone of junction may be masked by a metallic coating 4, and the grip of the solder may be improved with a supplementary junction layer 6. It is thus possible to make watchcases of distinguished appearance, comprising junction areas of narrower width than those required when cement is used for the assembly.

Une glace (1), ou un autre élément transparent et visible de l'extérieur de la boîte est assemblée à la carrure (2) ou à une lunette exclusivement par l'intermédiaire d'une couche (3) de matériau de soudure à basse température, du type de la soudure à l'Argent ou à l'Etain. La glace comporte un revêtement métallique appliqué sur la surface qui vient en regard de la couche de soudure, ce revêtement comportant trois niveaux superposés (4, 5, 6). Un niveau d'arrêt (5), de Chrome par exemple, permet d'éviter une diffusion de la soudure, à son état liquide, jusqu'à la surface de la glace. La zone de jonction est masquée par un niveau métallique (4); et l'accrochage du matériau de soudure est amélioré par un niveau supplémentaire de jonction (6).
