Abstract (en)

[origin: JPS57201691A] PURPOSE:To provide a heat-sensitive recording paper capable of forming a color image stable even upon the adhesion of hair-treating cosmetics, oils, fats and the like, by incorporating benzyl p-benzyloxybenzoate into a color forming layer containing a basic colorless dye and an organic color developer. CONSTITUTION:In a heat-sensitive recording paper 1 provided with a color forming layer comprising a basic colorless dye (e.g. crystal violet lactone) and an organic color developer (e.g. benzyl p-hydrozybenzoate), benzyl p-benzyloxybenzoate is incorporated into the color forming layer. Accordingly, even when hair-treating cosmetics, oils, fats and the like are adhered to the paper 1, degradation of a white texture and lowering of the image density can be prevented. Said benzyl p-benzyloxybenzoate is produced as a bi-product when synthesizig said benzyl p-hydroxybenzoate by bringing a salt of p-hydroxybenzoic acid and benzyl chloride into reaction with each other. Although benzyl p- benzyloxybenzoate has been regarded as undesired and having to be removed by a separating and removing step, the joint use thereof enables to markedly enhance the stability against oily matter.
