Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0068231A2] 1. Process for the hydrogenation of coal, heavy oil, bitumen or the like at temperatures between 250 and 550 degrees C, preferably between 380 and 480 degrees C and under pressures between 50 and 700 bar, preferably between 100 and 325 bar, wherein the reagent mixture is passed from the top of the reactor system to a hot separator, where the gaseous and vaporous reaction products are separated from the hot sludge which also contains certain proportions of heavy oil and middle oil, and the hot sludge is separated off at temperatures which are up to 100 degrees C, preferably 20 to 40 degrees C, below the hydrogenation temperature, characterized in that the hot sludge is stripped with process gases at temperatures between 20 and 300 degrees C and under a pressure between 10 and 300 bar.
