[origin: US4470427A] A pressure regulator for a pump aspirating a working fluid from a tank comprises a throttle valve at a junction between an inlet pipe extending from the tank and an outlet pipe terminating at the intake port of the pump. The discharge port of the pump is connected to a control port of the regulator housing in line with the inlet pipe, this control port being separated by a partition with a narrow passage from a chamber containing the shiftable valve body. The passage accommodates a small-diameter rod which has a flat tail penetrating that passage only when the discharge pressure of the pump has reached a certain threshold above a point at which that pressure has caused the rod to move the valve body into a blocking position against a countervailing spring pressure. This establishes a connection between the discharge and intake ports of the pump preventing further rises in the pump's delivery pressure.

Le régulateur de pompe par étranglement à l'aspiration avec limiteur de pression incorporé, comprend des moyens d'étranglement (12) ou (22) mobiles contre l'action de moyens élastiques de rappel (17) et interposés entre un conduit (3) de liaison à un réservoir et un conduit (4) de liaison à l'aspiration de la pompe, et un élément (18) propre à déplacer ces moyens d'étranglement et dont une extrémité est engagée dans un conduit ou une chambre (6) de liaison au refoulement de la pompe de sorte que la pression de refoulement agit sur cet élément (18). L'élément de commande (18) assure la communication entre le conduit ou la chambre de liaison au refoulement de la pompe et le conduit (3) de liaison à l'aspiration de cette pompe, lorsqu'il s'est déplacé d'une distance au moins égale à celle correspondant à un étranglement total.
