A manually operated power saw having circulating cutting members which are guided by a holding and guiding device (1) and driven by means of a motor, and having a stop (5) provided on the holding and guiding device (1), characterised in that the stop (5) has two gripping arms (7, 8) which spread apart at an angle and which, with their adjacent inner sides (9, 10), form a receiving jaw for branches and the like material to be cut, the receiving jaw being mounted in front of the circulation path of the cutting members in the feed direction (6) of the saw, and in that the stop (5) is acted upon by spring force in the feed direction (6) and is movably supported on the holding and guiding device (1) for relative movement counter to the feed direction (6), overcoming the spring force.
