Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0070565A1] 1. A method of preadjusting the printing cylinders (4) of roll-fed multicolour rotary presses, in which each of said printing cylinders is provided with a mark, wherein the printing cylinders (4) are adjusted to initial positions in accordance with the position of their marks relative to stationary marks provided on the frame and for this purpose are uncoupled from their drives and are subsequently coupled to their drives in accordance with the length of the web (3) between the corresponding stationary mark on the frame and the mark on the first printing cylinder (4), characterized in that the web (3) to be printed upon is moved into the printing press (1) and is printed with the registration marks of the printing units (11, 12, 13, 14), that the printing cylinders (4) of the printing units (12, 13, 14) succeeding the first printing unit (11) are uncoupled from their drives (6) when the registration marks printed by said succeeding printing units are detected by a photodetector (32, 33, 34) which is associated with the respective printing cylinder (4) and constitutes a stationary mark on the frame, and the printing cylinders (4) are coupled to their drives (6) in succession when the respective associated photodetector (32, 33, 34) detects the mark printed by the printing cylinder (4) of the preceding printing unit (11).
