A buffer stage for the treatment of bands, especially paper bands, which is intended for being disposed between a pilot-machine (3) with two moving directions and a modulus (4) with a single moving direction, and which permits to regulate the speed of the band (2) at the delivery of the stage (1) as a function of the flow-rate of the band delivered by the pilot-machine (3), and which also can restore a certain quantity of bands (2) to the pilot-machine (3), when the band at the delivery of the stage (1) is fixed, characterized in that it comprises a driving roll (5) for the operating of the band (2) controled by a guide-rod (9) provided with a reversing roller (8) around which winds the band proceeding from the pilot-machine (3), said guide-rod (9) bringing on its axis a sector (12) which occults a photoelectric cell (11) for the feeding of said motor (13) intended for operating the driving motor (5) during a certain angular position of the guide-rod (9) which corresponds with a tension of the band (2) at the entry of the buffer stage (1) superior to a determinated threshold.
