[origin: WO8202957A1] A semiconductor package for use in fiber optics systems wherein optical performance is enhanced by a lens (14) between a fiber segment (13) and the photoactive area of the semiconductor (15). The lens is spaced a predetermined distance from the fiber by a layer (16) of elastomer. During assembly of the package, the fiber provides a convenient means for handling the lens.

Un module semi-conducteur utilise dans des systemes a fibre optique permet d'ameliorer la performance du systeme optique en placant une lentille (14) entre un segment de fibre (13) et la region photo-active du semi-conducteur (15) La lentille est espacee d'une distance predeterminee de la fibre par une couche (16) d'un elastomere. Pendant l'assemblage du module, la fibre constitue un moyen approprie de manipulation de la lentille.
