Abstract (en)
The volume of the end compression chamber (80) of a piston engine can be varied by means of sliders (87, 88) which can be moved into it and out of it, to obtain optimum end compression in dependence on the operating state of the engine. Due to the fact that these parts have a cross section which deviates from the circular, their end faces (85, 86) can be optimally adapted to a required shape of the end compression space. The sliders (87, 88), which are not circular in cross section, are sealed by means of a sealing boundary (90) formed of sealing strips (91, 92) and joint closures (93). <IMAGE>

Der Endverdichtungsraum (80) einer Kolbenmaschine ist durch Schieber (87, 88), die in ihn hinein- und herausbewegbar sind, größenveränderlich, um in Abhängigkeit vom Betriebszustand der Maschine eine optimale Endverdichtung zu erhalten. Dadurch, daß diese Teile einen von der Kreisform abweichenden Querschnitt aufweisen, lassen sich ihre Stirnflächen (85, 86) optimal an eine erwünschte Form des Endverdichtungsraumes anpassen. Die Abdichtung dieser im Querschnitt nicht kreisförmiger Schieber (87, 88) erfolgt durch eine aus Dichtleisten (91, 92) und Stoßstellenverschlüssen (93) gebildete Dichtgrenze (90).
