Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0072335A2] The invention relates to a process for producing fabrics formed from a lap of parallel warp yarns (2) thermofused at their intersection points with a weft yarn (4). The warp (2) and weft (4) yarns are pressed at their intersection points in order to produce an outward deformation of the lateral parts of the weft yarn (4), whilst the central part of this yarn (4) remains virtually undeformed. Then, a high-frequency alternating electrical field (8) intended for carrying out the thermofusing is applied mainly to these outwardly deformed parts of the yarns. The process is characterised in that, before the thermofusing, the yarns (4) are impregnated (18) with a liquid compound with high dielectric losses, such as water (20). The invention is used for the production of thermofused fabrics. <IMAGE>
