Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8202865A1] Sailing boats of the trimaran type, allowing, whatever the position of the boat may be, a single stable equilibrium corresponding to its normal navigational position. It comprises submergeable watertight volumes associated to the mast (3) and to the floats (4 and 5). Each float has a hollow volume (8) which may be filled through openings (9) and which may be evacuated through the fast discharge valve (7), has a main watertight volume forward of the axis (XX') forming an acute angle of an arbitrary value (//c) contained in the plane (M), this axis allowing only an angular clearance in free rotation in both directions of an arbitrary value (//c), varying between a substantially horizontal position where the axis (YY') is parallel to the axis (ZZ') contained in the symmetry plane (K) and an approximately vertical position obtained automatically for a side straightening. When the boat has cap sized, the rolling area (47) allows the straightening about the axis (ZZ') remaining parallel as much as possible to the surface of the water. The most interesting applications of the invention concern coasting or high sea cruising boats, sea shore or racing vehicles, hydrofoil or carrier plane boats.
