[origin: WO8203149A1] A current-limiting device (4) is connected in series with a discharge lamp (3). The current-limiting device (4) is composed of a capacitor having, as a dielectric, ferroelectric polycrystal ceramics mainly containing barium titanate (BaTiO3?), which have the following characteristics: the ratio (Z2?/Z1?) is less than 1/10 where Z1? is the impedance estimated from the current when measured under an alternating electric field of 5V/mm, and Z2? is the impendance estimated under an alternating electric field of less than 500V/mm, so that the current-limiting device is miniaturized and has less power loss.

Un dispositif limiteur de courant (4) est connecte en serie avec une lampe a decharge (3). Le dispositif limiteur de courant (4) est compose d'un condensateur possedant, comme dielectrique, des corps ceramiques de polycristal ferro-electrique contenant principalement du titanate de baryum (BaTiO3), possedant les caracteristiques suivantes: le rapport (Z2/Z1) est inferieur a 1/10, Z1 etant l'impedance estimee a partir du courant mesure sous un champ electrique alternatif de 5V/mm, et Z2 etant l'impedance estimee sous un champ electrique alternatif inferieur a 500V/mm, de telle maniere que le dispositif limiteur de courant soit miniaturise et presente une perte de puissance moindre.
