Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0073361A2] Vice having clamping jaws (3, 4), which can be rotated jointly about an axis (22) that is horizontal in the normal position of use, and can be fixed in any angular position. The clamping jaws (3, 4) can be moved with respect to one another by a screw (5), one clamping jaw (4) being firmly connected to the screw (5) in the axial direction while the other clamping jaw (3) engages with the screw (5) by means of an internal thread (29). In order to make it possible for the clamping jaws (4, 5), which can be present in a plurality of pairs, to rotate, if necessary in common with a clamped workpiece, in an arbitrary fashion about the axis (22) of the screw (5) both in the loose and in the clamped state, and at the same time to ensure a precise guidance of the clamping jaws (3, 4), the two clamping jaws (3, 4) are each provided with guide tubes (18, 19), which are guided telescopically inside one another concentrically with respect to the screw (5), being movable with respect to one another in the axial direction but secured against rotation. The outer guide tube (18) is mounted rotatably in a housing (2) and secured therein against axial displacement and can be fixed in any angular position so as not to rotate by means of an adjustable rotational securement device. The two guide tubes (18, 19) can be removed from the housing (2). <IMAGE>
