[origin: US4502615A] An apparatus for a controlled supply of a powder to a mold for continuous casting has a vibrating conveyor with a delivery edge and a retaining wall carried by the vibrating conveyor. The retaining wall extends along the delivery edge and defines a flow control gap therewith, the retaining wall causing the powder to pile up thereat and to exert a conveying pressure on the powder flowing through the gap. The flow control gap has a height varying in inverse relation to the conveying pressure.

Eine Vorrichtung zum dosierten Beschicken einer Stranggießkokille (7) mit Gießpulver besteht aus einer an einem Vorratsbehälter (4) für das Gießpulver anschließbaren Fördereinrichtung, die am Austragsende eine in Abhängigkeit von der Querschnittsform der Kokille (7) verlaufende Abwurfkante (6) aufweist. Um mit einfachen Mitteln eine bestimmte Verteilung des Gießpulvers auf der Badoberfläche sicherzustellen, besteht die Fördereinrichtung aus einem Schwingförderer (1), der entlang der Abwurfkante (6) eine Stauwand (9) mit einem Dosierspalt (10) trägt, der entlang der Abwurfkante (6) in Abhängigkeit von der Verteilung des entlang des Dosierspaltes (10) in Ausflußrichtung auf das Gießpulver wirkenden Förderdruckes unterschiedlich hoch ist.
