Abstract (en)
In a device (7) for breaking at least one continuous rod (5) in a machine for making products for smokers, a separating element (13) is movable between a first position of intersection with the path of the rod (5) and a second position external thereto. <??>The mechanism that operates the device includes a helical torsion spring (46) mounted on a shaft (11) integral with the separating element (13), the purpose of which is to drive the latter alternately from one position to the other. <??>Means of restraint (29 and 30), interlocked to a control device (23), able to withhold the separating element (13) against the action of the helical spring (46), and means for automatically reloading the helical spring (46) each time the separating element (13) has moved from one of the said positions to the other, are provided.
