Retanning of mineral-tanned leather without impairing its dyeing properties by treating it with an aqueous solution of 0.025 to 1% by weight, based on the shaved weight, of a copolymer of a Fikentscher K value within the range from 20 to 150 formed from a) 20 to 80% by weight of acrylamide or methacrylamide, b) 80 to 20% by weight of an amino-containing acrylate of the formula H2C = CH-C(O)X-A-NR2 where A = C2-C5-alkylene R = methyl or ethyl and X = O or NH, c) 0 to 20% by weight of a further monomer which is copolymerisable in aqueous solution, at a liquor length, based on the shaved weight, of 30 to 300%, pH 3-6 and 20-60 DEG C.

Nachgerben von mineralisch gegerbtem Leder ohne Beeinträchtigung von dessen färberischen Eigenschaften durch Behandeln desselben mit einer wäßrigen Lösung von 0,025 bis 1 Gew.-%, bezogen auf Falzgewicht, eines Copolymerisates vom K-Wert nach Fikentscher im Bereich von 20 bis 150 aus a) 20 bis 80 Gew.-% Acrylamid oder Methacrylamid, b) 80 bis 20 Gew.-% eines eine Aminogruppe enthaltenden Acrylates der allgemeinen Formel H2C = CH-C(O)X-A-NR2 mit A = C2-5-Alkylen R = Methyl oder Ethyl, und X = O oder NH, c) 0 bis 20 Gew.-% eines weiteren, in wäßriger Lösung copolymerisierbaren Monomeren, bei einer Flottenlänge, bezogen auf Falzgewicht, von 30 bis 300 %, pH-Werten im Bereich von 3 bis 6 und Temperaturen von 20 bis 60°C.
