[origin: US4493291A] The gas cooler arrangement includes a first pressure vessel in which heat is yielded by radiation and a following convection gas cooler. The pressure vessel of the convection gas cooler includes a faller flue and at least one riser flue for cooling the gas. The flues comprise heat-removing tubes which are parts of a steam generator. The bottom of the pressure vessel contains an ash collection chamber which is connected to the ends of the flues and which can be emptied via a suitable closure element.
