Hydrant stand-pipe comprising a column-shaped casing (1, 2, 3) at the lower end of which a valve (13, 14, 16) commandable by a valve rod and a nut is arranged and which has a discharge opening being opened when the valve is closed, wherein the closing member (13) of the valve is guided so as to be slideable on a hollow mandrel (12, 31) fixed to the casing and being in alignment with the axis of the hydrant, and near the lower end of the mandrel a duct (20, 25) leading outside is connected to the hollow space of the latter, characterized in that the closing member (13) tightly embraces an external smooth cylindrical portion of the mandrel (12, 31) and that the discharge opening communicates via the hollow space of the mandrel (12, 31) formed by an axial bore (19) and at least one radial opening (18) capable of being closed by the closing member (13) lifted from the valve seat (16) with the space above the valve seat (16).
