Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0079313A2] The helmet shell consists of a front part (22), exhibiting a window opening (23) and a chin guard (30), and a rear part (21) which parts can be swivelled apart about a joint (25) arranged directly above the window opening (23). In the joined-together position, the two shell parts (21, 22) are secured by a snap fastener. Seated on the edge of the front shell part (22) surrounding the window opening (23) is a connection piece (29) for accumulated air. A sealing cushion (31, 33) is attached to the inside of the helmet, which sealing cushion extends around the face and passes below the lower jaw of the helmet-wearer. The air flowing into the connection piece (29) for accumulated air during travelling is accumulated in said connection piece and the adjacent space between the front shell part (22), the face and the sealing cushion (31, 33). By this means, the penetration of dust, raindrops, insects, etc is prevented and satisfactory vision is guaranteed without a visor being required which can severely impair vision in the case of rain or snow and as a result of condensation. <IMAGE>
