Bearing for the hoist (1) of the car of a passenger or goods elevator, comprising a gear casing (4, 24), in which there are arranged a driven worm (2) and a worm wheel (3) mating with the worm and being connected by means of a shaft (13) with a driving pulley (16) disposed outside the gear casing, the bearing comprising a swivel bearing for the gear casing and a fixed bearing formed by a bracket (20), characterised in that the swivel bearing comprises a swivel axis consisting of a half-round profile (27), which is formfittingly arranged in a channel (28) of the bottom of the casing and the plane surface of which is supported on a base construction (30), that the half-round profile (27) has a through-hole for receiving a thread bolt for screwing the gear casing onto the base construction, that the gear casing comprises a fixed axis (19) which is secured to the gear casing and disposed orthogonally to the swivel axis and which is on its free end outside the casing supported by a bracket (20), and that the shaft (13) designed as hollow shaft is pivotally supported on the axis (19).
