Abstract (en)
1. A steam pressing iron comprising a heating soleplate (10) which is provided on its underside with a series of steam exit openings (12) and on its upper side with an evaporator chamber (14) in communication with the openings (12) and connected to a water reservoir (16) via a cock having a small controlled flow rate (18), said flow rate being controlled by a rotatable handle (20) mounted on the upper portion of the pressing iron, wherein the pressing iron further comprises a reciprocating pump (24) for withdrawing a measured quantity of water from the reservoir (16) and delivering said quantity by means of a rotatable selector member (26) either to the evaporator chamber (14) in order to achieve a sudden powerful emission of steam through the openings (12) in the soleplate or to a coldwater atomiser (28) disposed in the forward portion of the pressing iron, and in which the reciprocating pump (24) includes a piston (30) for movement inside a cylindrical intake chamber (32) communicated to the reservoir (16) via a non-return valve (36), characterised in that the intake chamber (32) is formed in the central region of the rotatable selector member (26) and is communicated to the interior (40) of a fixed annular cup (42) whose outer rim (44) constitutes a pivot bearing for said selector member (26) and whose bottom (45) includes two angularly spaced apertures, viz., an atomising aperture (46) communicated to the atomiser (28) and an injection aperture (48) communicated to the evaporator chamber (14), and that the selector member (26) carries a closure member (50) which in dependence on the angular position of said selector member (26) closes either the one or the other of said apertures (46 or 48).

Ce fer comporte une pompe (24) propre à prélever une dose d'eau et à l'envoyer, au moyen d'un sélecteur rotatif (26), soit dans la chambre de vaporisation (14) pour obtenir un brusque effet de supervapeur, soit dans un pluvérisateur (28) placé à l'avant du fer. La pompe (24) est agencée dans la région centrale du sélecteur rotatif (26), ce qui permet à l'utilisateur de manoeuvrer ce sélecteur puis cette pompe sans avoir à changer la place de sa main sur la poignée du fer.
