Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0081276A2] An identification system is provided wherein one senses the position of optically significant features along the length of one or more fingers, such as the length and/or the optical characteristics of the under surface of one or more fingers. The finger to be measured is placed over a slot on the sensing device and at least a portion of the under surface of the finger is illuminated. A light pick-up device under the slot determines the position of optically significant features by means of light reflected from the finger.
