[origin: US4509914A] A method for the combustion of liquid fuels in the gaseous state comprising the steps of evaporating fuel in a gasification chamber and burning the gasified fuel after it leaves the gasification chamber with a controlled amount of air. This is controlled by the pressure in the gasification chamber in such a way that the correct stoichiometric relationship between fuel and air is not altered by factors such as temperature and viscosity of the liquid fuel. The invention includes the apparatus used to carry out the process, and, particularly, means (37) to adjust air supply control means (25) according to the pressure in the gasification chamber (21).

Beim Abstellen des Brenners wird das noch in der Vergaserkammer enthaltene, unter Druck stehende Gas abgesaugt. Dazu dient eine Pumpe, z.B. die Brennstoffpumpe (15), und/oder eine Unterdruckkammer (41). Wegen der Schwungmasse des Lüfterrades (17) steht der Motor (13) beim Abschalten nicht sofort still sondern läuft noch aus. Da aber beim Abschalten des Brenners das Ventil (29) umgeschaltet wurde, saugt die Pumpe über die Bohrung (77), die Leitung (35), das Ventil (29) und die Leitung (33) den Inhalt aus der Bohrung (55) und der Vergaserkammer (21) ab. Es tritt kein Gas mehr aus der Düse (79) aus, und die Flamme erlischt rasch. Wegen dem Druckabfall in der Leitung (35) schließt das Stellglied (37) die Luftklappe (25). Von der Pumpe noch in die Bohrung (55) geförderter Brennstoff wird ebenfalls abgesogen und kühlt das Lager (63). Er vermischt sich mit gasförmigem Brennstoff, so daß dieser rasch kondensiert. Die Unterdruckkammer (41) wirkt zusätzlich oder anstelle der Pumpe (15) als Mittel zum Absaugen. Der Unterdruck in der Unterdruckkammer (41) wird durch die Pumpe (15) während des Betriebs des Brenners erzeugt und steht dann nach dem Abstellen zum Absaugen zur Verfügung.
